Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Unfollowed Kate Middleton and Prince William: Here's Why
Is this some royal shade? Or is there another explanation for the social media unfollowing? Let's dive in.
Oh, snap! It appears that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have unfollowed Prince William and Kate Middleton on social media. In case you've missed it, this news comes amidst rumors that the foursome aren't exactly the best of friends — so was the unfollow a very public-facing diss?
Come on, this is the royal family we're talking about. The true explanation is, alas, not quite as shady.
Here's the deal: While the soon-to-be parents shared a social media account with Kate and Wills at one point, they branched out to start their own Instagram feed back in April. Originally, the SussexRoyal account followed other family members, but now, it's exclusively devoted to following accounts that shine a light on different causes.
Here's how Meghan and Harry explained it in a recent post: "May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the US and May 13-19 is Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. To pay tribute to all of the incredible work people across the globe are doing in this space, we are hoping to shine a light on several Instagram accounts that promote mental well-being, mental fitness, body positivity, self-care, and the importance of human connection - to not just hear each other, but to listen. There are countless organisations doing amazing work for mental health - please consider the accounts we’ve highlighted as a small snapshot of this global support network. We are all in this together."
And next month, the account will follow feeds pertaining to a new cause. The post continued: "Each month we will honour this same concept and change the accounts we solely follow based on a different theme or cause. Please go to our homepage and click 'following' to see each of the select accounts and find out more about their work."
