Gisele Bundchen Just Revealed Her Reason for Breaking up with Leonardo DiCaprio and It’s Ice Cold

The supermodel dishes on “numbing herself” during her relationship with the Titantic actor, before she was Mrs. Tom Brady.

It's hard to imagine Gisele Bundchen with anyone other than Tom Brady. But before she got hitched to the quarterback, the supermodel had another very famous beau: Remember when she and Leonardo DiCaprio were a thing? Though they may have made a beautiful couple, though, it sounds like things weren't so flawless behind the scenes. And in a recent interview with Porter magazine, the Brazilian beauty dished on all the relationship's flaws.

Bundchen and DiCaprio were an item from 2000 to 2005 (when she was only 19 years old). And during that time, the model confesses that she wasn't the green-juice-swigging yoga guru she is today. During her relationship with the actor, Bundchen shared that she had been burning herself out on work and indulging in unhealthy vices. And when she stopped, it became clear to her that something needed to change.

"No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at," she shared. "Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes." Ouch!

The supermodel has addressed this phase of her life before. In her 2018 memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Beautiful Life, she wrote: "I had been smoking cigarettes, drinking a bottle of wine and three mocha Frappuccinos every day, and I gave up everything in one day. I thought, if this stuff is in any way the cause of this pain in my life, it’s gotta go."

In the end, she wrote: "Everyone who crosses our path is a teacher, they come into our lives to show us something about ourselves. And I think that’s what [Leo] was. What is good versus bad? ... I honor him for what he was."
