Casey: Hangin' with Ashlee's Family

Casey is thankful to have Ashlee and her family in her life.

By Casey Cohen

You can choose your friends, but not your family

Thank you so much for all of your support; I’m incredibly grateful. The last few episodes have been interesting for me. I’ve been watching a lot of what has been going on and thankfully removed from the drama. I unfortunately can’t be at all of these events because I have work, but have tried to be as much as I can.

I’m very lucky that Chanel introduced me to Ashlee. I had the most amazing time at her house. I’ve been beyond fortunate to get to know Ashlee and her family. Ilene and Hal are extremely warm, welcoming people, and it's no surprise they've been married for over 40 years. When they invited me over for dinner we had a lot more to talk about than just speed dating. I told them about my parents and how I wished I could fix the relationship with my father: “You can choose your friends, but not your family.” -Harper Lee. I love seeing how close Ashlee is with Hal because I hope one day when I have children that don’t have to experience what I went through with my father being absent. I’m very open to sharing this because divorce is extremely common now, and marriage is not something to take lightly. It’s very important to get married because you love the person, not because you're getting older, and you're nervous you’ll never find someone. My father is my father and a part of me. I’m really looking forward to working on this relationship.

Beyond grateful for all of your support. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram @CaseyLCohen so we can talk 'Princesses' and more!

XO,
CC
