Christian Siriano Reveals His Top-Selling Sizes Are "Between 10 & 16"
The Project Runway mentor shares why pushing for diversity in fashion is so important to him.
In addition to his brilliant designs, designer Christian Siriano is known for being a strong advocate for diversity in the fashion industry. At the Bring It to the Runway panel at BravoCon on Friday, November 15, Bravo's Project Runway mentor revealed why this has always been such an important issue for him.
A lack of diverse sizing is something that Christian got a first taste of right at home as a child. "I grew up in a household where my mom was a curvy woman, my sister was a very small ballet dancer, so I had that extreme. And it was like, 'Oh, they like the same thing, so why shouldn't they be able to get the same thing?' So, I think that was why I decided to make that a prominent part of my business," he shared.
"All these different types of people, all of these different types of cultures — I think it's strange that it's like they can't find a dress," he added.
For this reason, Christian makes sure that he designs for everyone, without any limitations or excuses. The fashion pro revealed at the panel that his designs go up to a size 28 at times. Even his top-selling sizes highlight the need for a wider selection in the market.
"To be honest, we probably sell between 10 and 16 the most," he shared.
