Christian Siriano Reimagines Billy Porter’s Legendary Tuxedo Gown for the 2023 Golden Globes
The Project Runway mentor created unforgettable red carpet looks for the Pose star as well as Quinta Brunson and Nicole Byer.
On January 11, the stars hit the red carpet for the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards, and three of them dazzled in designs by Christian Siriano to celebrate the best in film and television.
Known for his glamorous, one-of-a-kind red carpet looks, Billy Porter came to slay in a custom fuchsia velvet tuxedo overlay gown from the Project Runway designer — a callback to the game-changing style he rocked for the 2019 Academy Awards. The Pose star accessorized the groundbreaking frock with numerous sparkly rings from Shine Like Me, STÉFÈRE, and House of Emmanuele, as well as ear cuffs from Yeprem and crystal-encrusted platform boots.
“THE KING [Billy Porter] in this custom Siriano tuxedo overlay gown tonight at the [Golden Globes]! Bammm,” Christian captioned a January 10 Instagram post of the elegant, stylish look, which also included a white button-down shirt and matching fuchsia bow tie.
Also rocking a stunning look from the fashion designer was Quinta Brunson who won for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series. The Abbott Elementary creator looked ravishing in a fishtail-silhouetted style composed of black tulle with hot pink flourishes around the neckline and tail of the dress.
The writer and performer pulled her hair back into a sleek low ponytail, accessorizing with Neil Lane jewelry and the sky-high black patent leather “Tarifa” sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti.
In addition, actress and comedian Nicole Byer took to the carpet in a glittering black off-the-shoulder sequined gown with attached gloves designed by Christian. Nicole paired the glamorous look with a sexy, messy updo, sparkling drop earrings, and a crystal-studded clutch.
