Christian Siriano's Spring 2022 New York Fashion Week Show Was Pure Italian Glamour
The Project Runway mentor presented his dreamy new collection to a celebrity-packed audience at NYFW.
On September 7, Project Runway mentor Christian Siriano brought an exuberant taste of Positano to New York City — and he also brought out Lil' Kim, Kristin Chenoweth, Busy Phillips, and The Real Housewives of New York City's Leah McSweeney. (Project Runway returns for Season 19 on October 14 at 9/8c and will be available the next day to stream on Peacock.)
At a high-octane show held at Gotham Hall, the designer presented his Spring/Summer 2022 collection, which was inspired by a vintage photo of his grandmother vacationing on the Amalfi Coast.
"It's the return to glamour and celebration," Christian told BravoTV.com backstage, summing up the mood of his collection. "It was kind of an homage to my grandmother, Italian roots, on holiday, color, citrus, apricot juice ... Positano. I just wanted all the vibes."
True to Christian's word, the collection was an Italian-style dream. Models strutted the runway in show-stopping ballgowns and crisp suiting. There were ruffles, neon silks — and some big stars in the audience.
From her seat in the front row, Leah filled BravoTV.com in on the celebrities she was most excited to see that evening. "I'm pretty excited that Alicia Silverstone is sitting right next to me," she said. "And, Miss Lil' Kim is making her way."
Let's not forget: Leah is a Lil' Kim super fan who once wore a dress covered in mugshots of the rapper. Of course, she's also a big Christian Siriano fan, as evidenced by the "Siriano Mob" t-shirt she wore.
