Beyoncé Rocks Designs by Project Runway Alum Venny Etienne in "Black Is King"
The Project Runway Season 17 alum designed a custom creation for Beyoncé's epic visual album.
On July 31, Beyoncé dropped her already-legendary visual album Black Is King, and if you haven't already taken in the masterpiece, you now have one more reason to do so. The spectacular film is filled with heart-pounding music, stunning cinematography, and, of course, all the fashion. Among the many show-stopping looks featured in the film are Bravo's Project Runway alum Venny Etienne's designs.
Venny, who has already dressed celebrities like Niecy Nash and Cardi B, shared his custom creation on Instagram for the landmark moment. "I’ve been waiting for this particular moment and it’s finally here," he explained in his caption as he described working with Beyoncé's stylist Zerina Akers on the design. Venny crafted a jaw-dropping, canary, floral-printed belted blazer dress specifically for Queen Bey. The jacket featured exaggerated square shoulders and a flouncy skirted bottom.
"Do ya know on average how many No’s I get on a regular?? At this point I look for No’s because it’s a testament of me seeking for the hard to reach opportunities," he continued in the emotional caption. "If you’re getting too many 'Yes' in journey then you’re not reaching high enough. I DARE you to reach for the 'No' opportunities because ALLLL it takes is for ONE yes, for that ONE person to TRULY believe in you for your whole trajectory to change."
Naturally, this game-changing moment is not lost on Venny. "Seeing Beyonce in my garment represents soooo much more than me. It represents Marlboro projects in Brooklyn, NY where I grew up, represents my Haitian culture, represents Dallas, TX where I live now!"
