Between An Orange And A Hard Place

Jaclyn discusses the second episode... and gives you some hair tips along the way.

What did you think of the short cut challenge?

A short haircut doesn't mean it won't be feminine and have movement -- very often it opens up the face and makes the hair more voluminous.

Any advice or tips for women who might want to get short hair?

They need a stylist that they truly trust. Take into consideration not only the shape of their face and body type, but also the texture of the hair. If you want to go short to a pixie, it's going to be really hard to control unless you do a look that will respond to the natural texture to your hair. Go get a short wig and try one on and see how you look with short hair.

What did you think of the elimination challenge?

I was a little disappointed because the women put so many constraints on the stylists. The stylists were dealing with nightmare colors and extensions. Their clients were frightened for a change, so they stylists couldn't really create an entirely new look for many of them.

Any parting words for Parker?

I liked your cut and the shine and condition that you brought to your client's hair. I would have liked to see the bangs lightened to open up her face more. You always had a great attitude and that will always serve you well.

Any thoughts about how you should approach a stylist with what you want opposed to what looks good?

You should say, "Please explain to me why this doesn't work. Can you give me another style that is similar that might give me a similar look or feel?"
