Model Host
Camla Alves describes her disappointment in the stylists' performance during the Shortcut Challenge.
We are down to the wire and sadly we had to say goodbye to Jon who turned out to be a gracious loser. It is always refreshing to see someone who is grateful, appreciative, and proud of their experience. Sometimes I really wish we didn't have to edit the show so much because Jon's goodbye was emotional. He really charmed us throughout the whole competition, what a sweetheart!
I like this episode in particular, because I was the only model for the Shortcut Challenge and I single-handedly got to judge the remaining finalists.
I could tell that each of them were nervous to do my hair and didn't
really know at first how hard it is and how long it takes to blow out/style my hair.
Initially, I was weary when Brig was doing my hair, especially when I noticed that the baby hairs were having a hard time staying in place -- that is one of my pet peeves!
Janine styled my hair, but it was not the right way to style it, it needed to be down and loose.
Next, it was Jon's turn. Unfortunately, he accidently burned me. I tried to be as calm as possible, so he would have a chance to finish the challenge, but damn it hurt so badly!!! He did do a nice job on the shape, however he didn't execute it right.
When I called Matthew out for not doing clean sectioning, he acted is if I shouldn't say that! Well that bad sectioning resulted in the bump that was left in the back of my head, but other than those two things, it would have been perfect! I loved how the edges were smooth, straight, and clean.
I was frustrated on how none of the stylists were able to give me a really amazing hairstyle, something they didn't really show on the actual episode. You weren't able to see how truly upset I was.
The second challenge was having the four remaining finalists define and create their own signature style and brand for their portfolio. The guest judge was the amazing and legendary stylist, Oribe and boy, do I value his opinion! I thought that Janine's first model looked like a Chia Pet when it was supposed to be an afro. The way Janine styled herself was not
indicative of her brand; I was a little disappointed in that because it was the first time that I didn't buy it!!
When Brig's first model came out, I was taken aback by the ice cream cone hair style. I do have to say that both of these styles demonstrated Brig's distinct point of view and showed who she is as an artist. It really was the first time I was able to see Brig! I am glad that she won this challenge and am so excited for the finale next week!
Three finalists left and who will be the last one standing???? You will just have to wait and see, tune in next week for the season finale:)
Beijos,
