Post-Hurricane Dorian, Patricia Altschul Offers an Update on Her "Fortress" of a Home
The Southern Charm matriarch lives in Charleston's iconic Isaac Jenkins Mikell House.
It takes a lot to rattle Patricia Altschul, and while two hurricanes in the past two years have done their best to make her and the Southern Charm crew consider evacuating their homes, she has stayed put and weathered these different storms with the consummate grace you'd expect from the matriarch.
Just as she did with Hurricane Florence, Patricia called in her personal contractor to make sure that her estate, the magnificent Isaac Jenkins Mikell House, was prepared for anything that Hurricane Dorian might bring. There was a lot at stake, including losing all the original glass windows that are still in the house.
After the hurricane passed, Patricia shared a video to her Instagram page showing the home made it totally intact.
"I am so fortunate to have escaped the wrath of #hurricanedorian2019," she wrote. "This house is on a high elevation and built like a fortress. Thank you for all those messages of concern. Now our attention should be directed to helping those in dire need including animal rescue organizations as well. Google top rated charities for disaster relief to make sure your donations go to the right people."
Thank goodness that even the show-stopping backyard, with all of its manicured greenery and tall trees, escaped unharmed. It'll take a lot more to bring down this mighty Charleston fortress!
