We've Never Seen Anything Quite Like Patricia Altschul’s Patterned, Painted Wood Floors
The Southern Charm matriarch whitewashed her hardwood floors and painted a gorgeous blue bow pattern on top.
After Patricia Altschul posted a super cute slow motion video of her new Pomeranian puppy, Peaches, scurrying across her master bathroom floor with a stuffed bunny toy to her Instagram feed, many commenters couldn't help but notice the Southern Charm matriarch's wooden floors that are painted white with dainty blue ribbons. Sorry, Peaches... you're adorable, but the floor kind of stole the show.
Patricia told one of her commenters that the floor was actually the idea of her late best friend, Mario Buatta, an accomplished designer who she recently honored at a retrospective exhibition at Sotheby's in New York City. And the artist who Buatta commissioned to paint the blue ribbons on the floors commented on the image, too.
"Mario asked for the floor design, said blue ribbons. That was pretty much all he asked and I designed the floor for him," wrote Haleh Atabeigi. (Yes, Patricia confirmed Haleh was indeed the artist behind the stunning floors!) "You were so right to resist when Mario wanted to have the bedroom floor done too, it’s so pretty clean white."
The bathroom floors perfectly match the whimsical and oh-so-Southern blue and white wallpaper we recently saw in one of her living rooms. While we're certain Patricia spent a pretty penny on this flooring, painting your own floors to liven them up can be an economical way to renovate at home as it's far cheaper than sanding and refinishing them.
We don't know about you, but we can't wait for the next sneak peek of Isaac Jenkins Mikell House!
