Patricia Altschul Explains the Reason for Her Unexpected New Signature Drink
Only the Southern Charm matriarch would call this a "juice cleanse."
Patricia Altschul is practically synonymous with perfectly chilled gin martinis. But these days, Southern Charm's legendary hostess is having her butler Michael batch up an entirely different kind of drink. Hold the green olives and bring on the pineapple, because Patricia's drinking piña coladas now.
In a recent Instagram share, the kaftan creator shared a video of Michael in his signature red apron. As the butler spilled some secrets for coring a pineapple flawlessly, Patricia cut to the chase: "This is in preparation for my drink," she said. And when her companion reminded her that the pineapple was also for dessert, Patricia swatted that away: "I don't care about dessert," she quipped.
In her caption, the Charleston chatelaine explained her new choice of beverage. "Since we ran out of my beloved Beefeater gin I’ve resorted to drinking piña coladas with fresh pineapple. Sort of a juice cleanse," she wrote.
But don't think Patricia has given up her "daily medicine" for good. When a commenter asked her if she's been getting groceries (read: gin) delivered, she answered: "It's coming." And lest you're unsure of what "it" is, Patricia clarified with a martini emoji.
