When the cast of Southern Charm is doling out tips on where to eat and drink in Charleston, we're all ears. And, thanks to a recent Instagram post from Patricia Altschul, we're now adding a sweet coffee shop for our list of local places to hit up next time we're in the area. (After Cameran Eubanks' favorite boiled-peanuts spot, of course!)
The Charm matriarch shared her tip via a September 23 Instagram post. In the photo, Patricia — who, side note, of course wears glam sunglasses and carries a giant designer tote to a coffee shop — poses with her arm around a smiling barista. The two stand under a sign that advertises "Bitty & Beau's Coffee." Take a peek:
In her caption, Patricia wrote: "This coffee shop was founded with a unique hiring concept in mind. Do drop in at 159 Church Street.... you’ll love it." And, from what we can glean on the shop's Website:
"Amy married 'Mr. Wright; 25 years ago. They’re the proud parents of four children — the two youngest, Bitty & Beau, having Down syndrome — which makes them feel like the luckiest people on the planet. As advocates for the value, inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), the Wrights have dedicated their lives to making the world a better place for their children and others living with IDD. The Wrights opened the original Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, January 2016 in Wilmington, NC."
Now, the couple owns another shop in Patricia's home town of Charleston — and a third outpost is on the way, with an opening in Savannah on the near horizon.
Coffee with a social conscience — and the Southern Charm seal of approval: What's not to love?
