Summer House's Luke Gulbranson Is Renovating His Lake House (PICS)
During self-quarantine, the Minnesota native put his woodworking skills — and his hockey sticks — to good use.
Back in March, New Yorker Luke Gulbranson hit the road. "This coronavirus has me thinking about a road trip to the lake house,” the Summer House model shared on Instagram. “Get away from everything and spend some time in nature ... People battling for things in the city. No thanks. I’ll be at the lake.”
The lake house is all the better for having Luke as its temporary resident. A skilled woodworker, Luke's been staying busy by giving a little love to the walls, doors, and hidden nooks at the home. And lately, his Instagram feed has been a treasure trove of D.I.Y. design inspiration.
"I buttoned up my last wall and finished staining tonight," Luke wrote on June 6. "Another week of trim, finishing the fire place, insulating the attic and crawl space left." He added: "This years renovations have been awesome for me during the isolation with the [COVID-19] virus."
Luke also added a new, bright-red insulated door to his kitchen. "[Color pop]," he wrote in an Instagram post, via hashtag.
And finally, Luke's been building furniture using salvaged goods."I had a vision of this table and I wanted to bring it to life. This is what I ended up with. I called it The Americana table," he wrote, showing off the table that incorporates old telephone poles. He also used hockey sticks to make an artful bench:
