There's just days to go until Cinco de Mayo. But listen, party people: do not panic! Even if you don't have Pinterest-worthy place settings ready to go, you can now say that you have your complete cocktail list, curated by a true Cinco de Mayo expert. (Aren't you fancy?)
It's true: Mayra Farret, a Texan by way of Mexico, sent us a list of her five favorite cocktails for the holiday. And, the Texicanas entertaining expert told us just how to make them. Keep scrolling to get tipsy with anticipation for Sunday. And for more of Mayra and her pals, save the date for the premiere of Texicanas on May 7 at 10/9 c. Psst: We have a feeling these drinks will pair just as well with a viewing party as they would for Cinco de Mayo.
Here are Mayra's go-to recipes, in her own words:
Margarita
"Fill a shaker with ice, lime juice, Conitreau and sugar syrup. Shake it and serve on the rocks in a dressed glass."
Banderita
"In three separate shot glasses, pour lime juice, tequila and sangrita. Drink in the same order. (Sangrita: Mix of tomato juice, orange juice, lime juice, tabasco sauce and salt.)"
Mexican Martini
"Pour tequila reposado, Cointreau, lime juice, orange juice, olive brine, and serve on a Martini glass with two olives. This is my personal favorite!"
Paloma
"Tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, sugar, and club soda. Serve in a tall glass with a grapefruit wedge."
Vampiro
"Tequila, sangrita, lime juice, Mexican grapefruit soda."
And if you want to make your May 6th a little less, well, hungover, Mayra's got you there, too: For nonalcoholic drinks, she suggests "colorful fruit water like watermelon, hisbiscus, tamarind, lemonade, and of course horchata are always a favorite at Mexican parties."
