Have Expensive Taste on a Budget Salary? Then We've Got the Loafer Mules for You!
The hottest shoe of the season doesn't come cheap, so we're here to help with some more affordable lookalikes.
I’m not sure there’s ever been a product made by Gucci that I haven’t lusted after. Dresses, bags, sunglasses, shoes — if I’ve laid eyes on it, I’ve subsequently wanted it and strategized how to get it…only to quickly realize it’s either the Gucci or food for the month. My latest longing is the Princetown slipper, which comes with or without fur, in shiny metallic hues, brocade and jacquard fabrics and one version even has an embroidered lips and heart decals attached. Yes, you read that right, a lips/heart combo decal delicately tops adorable loafer-like mules bursting with kangaroo fur. Swoon. It doesn’t help that I’ve been spotted every celebrity, blogger, and editor in the world running around town in these pretty ponies.
Alas, with the Princetowns running from $600 to $1,000 a pair, it was either the slippers or being able to keep my house warm this winter. (I have kids, so that made my choice even more difficult.) Ultimately, I’ve chosen warmth. But my yearning for a loafer-mule-like combo can’t be quenched and so I’ve drummed up 15 look-alikes that aren’t quite the real thing, but at a fraction of the price, I’m okay with that.
