Lisa and the Vanderpump Rules Cast React to Their Emmy Nominations
Andy Cohen also shared his thoughts on the exciting news.
Vanderpump Rules earned its first-ever Emmy nominations on July 12 — Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program — and naturally, the cast was thrilled.
Read on to see what Lisa Vanderpump, Ariana Madix, Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, Lala Kent, and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen had to say when reacting to the exciting news ahead of the 75h annual Emmy Awards.
Lisa Vanderpump
SUR’s matriarch was unsurprisingly overcome with emotion upon hearing about Vanderpump Rules’ Emmy nominations. As Lisa told E! News, “I actually did get goosebumps and cried. I just thought to actually be at that level, it’s so unexpected if you go back 13 years — and I don’t take it for granted at all.”
“Listen, it’s got my name on it,” she continued. “I created this show with [executive producer] Alex Baskin, cast it, put the people in who I thought would tell a really good story, and it’s amazing.”
Lisa also gave a shout-out to the many crew members who work on Vanderpump Rules. “I’ve been talking to a lot of people on the Emmy nomination circuit and really acknowledging the crew, everybody, all the components that go into making a great reality show,” she said.
She added, “Focusing on telling the true story, which is what we’ve always been able to do. That’s down to people being really honest with their lives, capturing it as it happens. Having a crew that has the empathy to move in between and capture these moments which sometimes can be really, really difficult and challenging emotionally.”
Ariana Madix
“I am so thrilled and happy to find out that Vanderpump Rules has been nominated for two Emmys,” a smiling Ariana said in an Instagram Story. “You guys, we have the absolutely best crew in the whole, whole world, and the best production.”
She then reflected on all the hardships she faced throughout Season 10, namely due to Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss’ affair. “We’ve been through so much, and obviously last season you saw some really raw and some really real things that we were going through, and to have that be recognized, it’s such a thrill and it’s such an honor,” Ariana added. “And I cannot believe that we are Emmy nominated. Like, I’m just over the moon. Thank you!”
Katie Maloney
Taking to her Instagram Stories shortly after the Emmy nominations were unveiled, Katie told her followers, “Y’all, I cannot believe Vanderpump Rules is nominated for two Emmys. [It hasn’t] really fully sunk in, but it doesn’t even matter what happens after this.”
“This is the moment,” she continued, “and I’m just so proud of everyone that’s involved in our show and works on our show, because they’re all so amazing… This is f-cking awesome.”
Scheana Shay
Like Ariana and Katie, Scheana addressed her followers in an Instagram Story (with some help from her daughter, Summer Moon!). “Oh my gosh, we are nominated for not one but two Emmys!” she said. “Summer can you say, ‘Yay Emmys!’?”
Summer was more focused on her breakfast, but Scheana kept up the excitement on her behalf while acknowledging Vanderpump Rules’ editors and their contributions to the show. “I’ve been saying it for years: Our editors deserve an Emmy. And you know what? So do we,” Scheana concluded. “Congrats to everyone who works on our show, our cast. Oh my god. We did it!”
Lala Kent
Sharing the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 cast photo to her Instagram Story, Lala wrote, “Congratulations to everyone involved. And yes, I mean EVERYONE. Grateful to be part of this phenomenon.”
Lala also issued a statement to Deadline, noting, “I’m so thrilled for Vanderpump Rules to be nominated for two Emmys this year. To be recognized for putting our real, messy, beautiful lives out for the world to see is such an honor. And we’re just getting started. Kudos to our team at Bravo and Evolution for the great season.”
Andy Cohen
The WWHL host took to Threads, writing, “So pumped for Vanderpump Rules’ Emmy nomination[s]… and [to be honest] a little befuddled that the [Real] Housewives haven’t ever gotten one in all these years!”
