There has clearly been some chemistry between Alex Radcliffe and second stewardess Christine “Bugsy” Drake during this season of Below Deck Mediterranean. But during the July 16 episode of The Daily Dish podcast, which you can listen to below, the deckhand explained that being on the show has totally changed his love life.
Alex admitted that becoming a Below Deck Med cast member “has helped with the ladies,” but added that it’s not always easy to know what someone’s intentions may be.
“In a way, I like it, but in a way, I don’t like it, because if a girl is going to hang out or talk to me, it’s like, are you hanging out with me because of who I am, or because you like the show? So that’s like a mental trigger I think I have right now,” Alex explained.
He also got into the details of his love life, explaining that he has never had a profile on a dating app. So how does Alex meet potential love interests?
“I meet them at bars! You’ve just got to spit some game a little bit,” Alex explained. “I’ve never DMed a girl in my life. If they reach out to me, I’ll respond. I’ve never used a social media for anything.”
As for his first impression of Bugsy? It might just make you swoon. Alex said he instantly noticed “that she was a beautiful girl,” but was also impressed by her strong personality.
“What I really like, that she comes on board, she’s wearing this kind of ridiculous jumpsuit, but you could just tell off the bat, she’s bubbly, she was her own person. She wasn’t trying to be someone else, and that was very clear to me right away. How she talked, how she was a very good people person,” said Alex. “That definitely caught my eye, her personality.”
When asked to describe whether he felt he had great chemistry with Bugsy, Alex admitted that watching the episode back certainly helped refresh his memory.
“I mean, looking back at it, yeah. We definitely did. Do I remember it? Not really that much. I remember the dinner, everything was good. We were having our own little small convos, and it was good kind of just talking outside of work,” he said. “And then it all started going down hill when alcohol’s involved. Next thing you know, the lights are flashing in the club, you don’t even know your name anymore. But yeah, we had a good night, it looked like.
