Amy Schumer Gives Major Props to Caroline Manzo In Her New Book
"That's craziness," the #Manzod mom said of the comedian's shout-out in The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.
Amy Schumer gives her witty take on everything from being an introvert to health and fitness to her own views on love and marriage in her new book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. It's in one essay about that last point where the Trainwreck star gives a very big compliment to none other than Manzo'd with Children's own Caroline Manzo. "I have trouble with people who maintain that their mothers are perfect. Are you dating a guy who can't make a decision without running it by his mom first? Break up with him. (Unless his mother is Caroline Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but she is the only exception.)," the beginning of her essay titled "Mom" reads.
"That's craziness," Caroline recently told The Daily Dish of her initial reaction to the shout-out. "When somebody like that knows who you are, more importantly, respects what you do, especially in something like that, it's the best thing ever."
Naturally, Caroline's eldest son Albie Manzo also said the gesture was "awesome" on Instagram.
Mama Manzo went on to say that it was gratifying to see Amy respect her parenting style, especially when it came to raising Albie and her youngest son Chris. "It's always been a thing that we've always had to deal with, like they're mama's boys, and it's so far from the truth. It's so far from the truth," Caroline said. "It's nice to see that somebody like that recognizes, like a young person that's pretty well-loved and everything like that gets it. I'm so glad she gets it. So it was pretty cool."
Even one of Caroline's famous friends took note of her mention in Amy's book. "It's funny, because Gayle King sent me an email, and she said, 'Oh my God, I'm reading Amy Schumer's book, and you're mentioned,'" Caroline told The Daily Dish. "And I said, 'What a compliment.' I said to her, 'Everything else in life fades, but a mother's love never does.' And Gayle wrote back, she goes, 'Isn't that the truth?' So it's nice that even Gayle reached out to me and said, 'Oh my God! Amy Schumer mentioned you in her book!' It was fun."
Though Caroline has yet to meet Amy in person, she's hoping that changes soon. "I've never met her, but in my email [to the book's publisher], I said she has an open invite to Sunday dinner," the Manzo'd matriarch said.
