Andy Cohen Is Still Baffled by Simon van Kempen's WWHL Performance 8 Years Later
"I can't believe that exists," he said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
If The Real Housewives of New York City's Simon van Kempen's iconic performance of "I Am Real" wasn't captured on camera for a 2011 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, no one would probably believe it really happened — least of all Andy Cohen.
The WWHL host was reminded of the truly one-of-a-kind performance (clip above) after he witnessed another former Househusband, Dr. Paul Nassif, serenade wife Brittany Pattakos at their wedding in Greece earlier this month. Paul, who is the ex-husband of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Adrienne Maloof, received Andy's Mazel of the Day on the October 7 episode of WWHL for an, um, unique rendition of Lady Gaga's "Always Remember Us This Way" from A Star Is Born.
"You know what? I'm giving him the Mazel because this is definitely not the worst musical performance by a former Househusband," Andy said before a clip of Simon singing "I Am Real" appeared on the screen. "I can't believe that exists. I really can't."
Same, Andy, same.
Actually Andy's current thoughts on Simon's song are not too different from how he initially reacted to the performance during that fateful night on WWHL. "Wow, Simon, I can't believe it," he said. "That was really something."
You can find out more about how Simon's first and somehow only single came to be from the below WWHL clip from 2011 featuring his wife Alex McCord and future Beverly Hills Housewife Denise Richards.
