Andy Cohen Shares Energy Tips for Earth Week

The 'WWHL' host wants to help you save money on your electric bill, while also saving the environment.

It's Earth Week—and NBCUniversal wants to help you be more mindful of how to help the environment. With the Green Is Universal campaign, we'll be dishing tips on small changes you can make that will have a big impact on the Earth.

Did you know that the average person wastes 240 pounds of food each year? That's about the same weight as a refrigerator! To avoid contributing to this massive food waste, there's plenty you can do: Plan meals ahead. If you have leftovers from dinner, reinvent them for lunch the next day. Also, if you have food that's about to expire, freeze it to extend its shelf life.

Also, Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen wants to help you cut down on your electric bill. "Even when shut off, your electronics still consume power, and this phantom energy can add up to 15% of your total electricity," he shares. "So plug your devices into a power strip and turn it off at the end of the day and watch some phantom savings appear on your electric bill."
