Andy's in Charge at the GLAAD Awards

Watch What Happens Live host taking the reigns at ceremony.

By Shallon Lester

Andy Cohen, our SVP of Original Programming and Development and sharp-tongued Watch What Happens Live host is taking a brief break from grilling Housewives and exquisitely adorned Pomeranians. On March 19th, Andy will host the 22nd annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards ceremony in New York honoring the LGBT community and its A-list allies.

This year, Ricky Martin and Kristin Chenoweth will snag trophies to thank them for their support of the gay community. Ricky, who recently came out of the closet, will receive the Vito Russo Award, which honors a gay celebrity or media pro who has helped promote equal rights. Kristin will receive the Vanguard Award which celebrates a star who increased the awareness and understanding of the gay community. The Broadway actress defended homosexual actors and called for "acceptance, love and unity," after an article alleged that gay thespians "cannot play straight roles."
