Anwar Hadid Nails His First Cover Shoot Thanks to This Advice from His Supermodel Sisters
The #RHOBH son has arrived.
Seeing a Hadid on the cover of a major fashion magazine isn't so rare of an occurrence these days, considering the fact that Gigi and Bella Hadid are supermodels of the world. But seeing little bro Anwar Hadid grace a mag's cover will certainly make you do a double take.
That's because Anwar is new to the fashion game, having just signed with IMG Models in February. However, he's clearly already killing it, landing his first magazine cover ever for the June/July issue of Teen Vogue. And dare we say that Anwar looks out of this world in that astronaut-inspired jumpsuit (sorry, we had to)?
Anwar continues to look fierce in an alternative version of the cover with Vine star Cameron Dallas.
But even with all of the stylish success in his family, Anwar didn't initially think he'd follow in his sisters' and mom Yolanda Hadid's footsteps to give this modeling thing a shot. “I try not to think about anyone’s expectations but rather focus on always doing my personal best,” he told Teen Vogue in the issue's cover story. “Modeling was never a thought in my mind growing up, but my mom felt it was important for me to be open to business opportunities and expand my horizons. I’m excited to go for it!”
But of course, the 16-year-old's famous family has helped him get ready for his close-up. “They tell me to be myself, have fun, and focus on eye expressions," he said.
They've also just taught him a lot about growing up in general. “I’m comfortable around girls because I grew up with two sisters and a single mom. I feel very lucky for all they have taught me,” he explained.
It was Gigi and Bella's foray into fashion that inspired his sartorial passion as well. “I only got interested in fashion a couple of years ago, when Gigi and Bella started modeling,” he said in the interview. “I didn’t grow up rocking designer clothes, so this is all very new to me, but I am now down to wear anything on set.”
As you'll see in the spread, that includes bunny ears and a bright, pink polka-dot shirt. It's confirmed: Anwar can rock just about anything.
The teen's passion for fashion doesn't just stop at wearing clothes on the runway; he wants to be the designer behind them, too. He revealed that he plans to study fashion design in New York and have his own label one day. “My grandfather was a men’s shirt designer in Holland, so it must be in my genes," he said.
With all of that on the horizon, how could Anwar not be looking forward to the future? “I am excited about becoming financially independent and exploring the world," he said.
We already know that would make Yolanda one #ProudMommy, and she clearly is one already.
Gigi was also a #ProudSister on Instagram. "I know your creatively-genius mind will always keep you in and around fashion, this is just the intro," she wrote. "You, my lil bro, are the epitome of EFFORTLESS. Proud of you!"
May this be the first of many magazine covers, Anwar!
