Ashley Darby Reveals She's Never Met Her Father

On The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley Darby is known for her bubbly and upbeat spirit, even when others may try to bait her into drama. And she maintains her positive attitude having a significantly sad family history that she hasn't yet mentioned on the show: She doesn’t know her father.

“I’ve never met him — all I know is he’s a white guy with red hair,” she told Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee on their morning syndicated radio program The Breakfast Club as a lighthearted interview turned serious.

Even more devastating, Ashley’s father has resisted her attempts to reach out to him on social media, revealing that she tried to friend him on Facebook three times and he blocked her from communicating with him.

When Charlamagne laughed at that surprising revelation, she kept her poise but didn’t take it as a joke. “That is really hurtful!” she exclaimed. “I cried the first time. It was actually like Christmas Eve or something and I was looking at it.” He then asked her why it still upsets her. “Because that’s half of me and people are like, ‘Oh, you have your dad’s eyes, you have your dad’s face shape,’" she said. "But to not know who he is and to hear that, that’s really hurtful.”

Angela suggested that perhaps her father is now ashamed of himself that he hasn’t come around to be a part of her life, to which Ashley agreed.

"Apparently he has some type of social disorder so he is a very lone wolf type of person,” she said. “I’m not saying it’s a good justification but I mean maybe it’s better in the long term because he actually was a little bit abusive to me as a baby, my mother was telling me. She was like, 'I rescued you from that situation and he ran back to Georgia.'"
