Avery Pushed Ramona to Get "More Emotional" in Her Book
The #RHONY author tells the Daily Dish how her daughter influenced 'Life on the Ramona Coaster.'
Ramona Singer is inviting fans and viewers into her world in her just-released memoir, Life on the Ramona Coaster. The book is an in-depth look at the Real Housewives of New York cast member's life, from her childhood — where she witnessed her father abuse her mother — to her career in the fashion industry, and her life as a mother and wife. "The viewers like me so much, they think they know me, but now they're really going to know me," Ramona told the Daily Dish.
On Wednesday night (July 29), she celebrated the book's release at Beautique in Manhattan, where she was joined by pals Countess Luann and Andy Cohen, Miss USA herself Olivia Jordan, as well as her daughter Avery. While Ramona's ex-husband, Mario, has yet to give the the memoir a close read, Avery was hands-on throughout the writing process. "I made sure she read the book before I published it and she approved it," Ramona said. "And she actually encouraged me to write more about the... [to be] more emotional about the downfall of my marriage."
The book not only shines a light on her relationship with her daughter, but also gives intimate details about her split from Mario following his affair. "Let's call it Ramotional, as Andy says... You know what, I bared all. It's OK. I wanted it to be inspirational to other women because half the people go through divorce and I want to share, I want to share it no-holds-barred," she continued. "It was cathartic for me to write it and I talked about my upbringing. You know people talk about [alcohol] abuse, they talk about drug abuse, they don't talk about domestic abuse. I witnessed it, so I shared that. I shared about how I made my career, all on my own. I had a a million dollars in the bank before I married my husband. And if I can do it, anyone can do it. I had no connections."
