Below Deck Adventure Chief Stew Faye Clarke Teases What’s to Come This Season
The crew member aboard the superyacht Mercury spilled on the drama with chef Jessica Condy and more.
Season 1 of Below Deck Adventure is shaping up to be quite the wild ride, according to chief stew Faye Clarke.
Speaking exclusively to The Daily Dish, the cast member revealed that the latest addition to the Below Deck franchise is sure to keep viewers “on the edge of their seats.”
“I mean, even just being part of it, I was a bag of nerves,” Faye said. “We’re taking people up cliffs, they’re abseiling off the side of huge cliffs, and they’re ziplining over waterfalls... Lewis [Lupton], my bosun, he was so relaxed, and I’m like, ‘You don’t understand — if these guys break their ankle or if something goes wrong, we’re in the middle of nowhere [and] we don’t know where we are,’ you know?”
But despite “the mother in me coming out,” Faye said she was eventually able to get over her initial nerves and help charter guests “go away with memories that they’re gonna take with them for the rest of their life.”
Faye continued, “They can say, ‘Oh, this was this one time in Norway when blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,’ you know? And I think that’s what makes it so different. The Mediterranean, a summer holiday, everyone’s had them... [but] I definitely think Norway’s gonna bring something not only different to the guests but to the audience and definitely to the crew.”
Speaking of the crew, fans may recall that Below Deck Adventure’s first-look trailer shows Faye clashing with chef Jessica Condy. Reflecting on their time together, Faye told The Daily Dish, “To be honest, me and Jess, we are the same age, we are very similar, although she’s from South Africa [and] I’m from, obviously, the U.K. We both left home at quite a young age, and we’ve been working our way around the world as independent girls. And I’ve got a lot of respect for her and she has a lot of respect for me, but obviously, during times where things were under pressure, she would snap and she would be — how do I put it? — very stressed, shall we say?”
“I would take it for so long because I wanted to keep the peace,” Faye continued. “My interest was just getting the food or the drinks out to the guests. I didn’t really care about anyone’s mood swings or anything like that, you know? I’m quite bulletproof... but there was a point where I was like, ‘OK, this needs to stop now,’ and I fired back at her.”
Viewers will have to wait to see that conversation, but Faye insisted they were ultimately able to “crack on.”
Can the same be said for Faye and any romantic interests? As she put it, “At the end of the day, I’m just a girl. I’m a single girl and I like a compliment. I like it if someone’s gonna flirt with me.”
However, “there’s a time and a place,” Faye added. “I just wanted everybody to have — in our downtime, you know — fun and just be ourselves, and that’s all I’m gonna say about that.”
