Find Out Why Camille Lamb Is Back in the Conversation on Below Deck

In a preview of the upcoming season finale, Ben receives a text from the fired deck/stew that makes his “heart [sink].”

By Shannon Raphael

Captain Sandy Yawn fired deck/stew Camille Lamb on the January 16 episode of Below Deck, but she continues to be a topic of discussion on the show.

During her time on superyacht St. David, the Mississippi native engaged in a boatmance with Aussie deckhand Ben Willoughby. After Camille was let go, Ben revealed that he was “gutted” because she was “the first person [he had] really opened up to” in a few years. He wanted to pursue a connection with her off the boat, and the two later made plans to take a trip to the Dominican Republic together after the charter season.

However, in a preview of the upcoming March 20 finale (which you can check out above), it looks like Ben’s boatmance with Camille may be hitting troubled waters.

Though the pair has stayed in touch throughout the day via text (and FaceTime) since Camille was fired, Ben soon finds out that the American Idol alum isn’t typically one to be in constant communication.

“You really are getting the best of me because I don’t text people,” reads a text message to Ben from Camille. This worries Ben, since he lives in Australia normally, while Camille is based in the United States.

“I got a message from Camille, and my heart sinks,” Ben explains in an interview, adding that he asked the aspiring singer to clarify if she meant they wouldn’t be able to text much when he returned to Australia.

Her response? “I don’t really have the mental capacity for that conversation right now.”

Ben isn’t thrilled by Camille’s answer, he reveals. “I’m instantly thinking, ‘Well, what does that mean?’” he says.

To further complicate matters, Ben’s former online flirt, Leigh-Ann Smith, joined the crew as a replacement for fired second stew, Alissa Humber. Ben and Leigh-Ann matched on Tinder a year before she was hired on St. David, and the two exchanged many messages and intimate photos before they met in person for the first time on the boat. In a separate preview of Episode 17, Ben and Leigh-Ann are caught in a make-out themselves.

“Part of me feels like, ‘Live in the moment. You haven’t got a title with Camille. Why don’t you just see what happens,’” Ben explains about the kiss.

Will Ben conclude the season by staying loyal to Camille, or will he take his bond with Leigh-Ann from the DMs to real life? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
