Captain Sandy Yawn Welcomes to the Crew a Familiar Face Who Is “Excited, Super Nervous”
Find out who is joining the crew of Home amid changes during Season 7 of Below Deck Med.
There’s a new yachtie in town... and, well, she looks awfully familiar.
Following Raygan Tyler’s exit in the August 8 episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, Captain Sandy Yawn enlisted the help of Courtney Veale to pick up the slack aboard Home, as fans learned in the August 15 episode when the crew took on their third charter for the season.
Fans will remember Courtney from Season 6 of Below Deck Med, during which she was a stewardess and worked with Captain Sandy as well as deckhand Mzi “Zee” Dempers. “So good to see you,” Captain Sandy said when Courtney boarded Home. “It’s been great to know what you’ve been up to.”
“I’m excited to be back, but very nervous to be on deck,” Courtney told her boss. And in an interview in the episode, she added, “I’m back! I was kind of in two minds after last season. Like, being promoted to second stew, last season it was so intense and I was constantly inside and stressed and never saw daylight. So when I left Lady Michelle, I went to the Bahamas and did the last bit of the Caribbean season as a deckie. I definitely feel like a deckhand fits my personality better than a stew. Getting the call from Sandy to come back, I’m excited, but I’m super nervous as well. I’m ready to get to twerk.”
Zee, by the way, was excited to welcome back his friend and shared that they had kept in touch since last season.
That wasn’t the only change taking place within the crew. Storm Smith was also made a provisional bosun — and you can hear more about that in the clip at the top of this post. However, it wasn’t a smooth transition for Storm. During his first undocking as a provisional bosun, he experienced issues while giving Captain Sandy distances.
