Dorinda Medley on Bethenny Frankel's Outburst at Luann de Lesseps: "She Said What We Were All Feeling the Whole Time"
The explosive Real Housewives of New York City moment wasn't just about Luann de Lesseps.
Bethenny Frankel's animosity toward Luann de Lesseps that had been bubbling up inside of her this season of The Real Housewives of New York City finally boiled over in Wednesday night's episode. While out to dinner during their girls' trip to Miami, Bethenny told Luann exactly what she really felt about her seemingly superior and self-centered behavior — and she definitely didn't hold anything back.
Can you imagine what it must have been like to bear witness to this highly emotional moment? Well, you don't have to, because Dorinda Medley and Sonja Morgan revealed exactly what went down at that dinner during their appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Wednesday night. "Well, it was overwhelming," Dorinda recalled. "But at the same time as I told everyone, she said what we were all feeling the whole time."
However, Bethenny's blow-up wasn't just about Luann; her remarks also hinted that she was still very much dealing with losing fiancé Dennis Shields, who passed away in August 2018. "I think it was a lot more than Luann. Listen, Bethenny's been going through so much, and she's been dealing with so much death. She started filming [RHONY Season 11] three weeks after he died," Dorinda explained. "And all Lu could do was talk about herself the whole time, and I don't think Bethenny ever really realized that she was suffering during this whole time and just kind of focusing on Lu."
Sonja also noted on WWHL how much energy Bethenny had been putting in to caring for others during the Miami trip. "Bethenny was worried about us," she said. "She was worried about me, she was worried about Barbara [Kavovit] fitting in, she was worried about us all eating, and worried about Luann."
Simply put, Bethenny had just reached her breaking point at that dinner, according to Dorinda. "What happened was this was just enough is enough. It was much more than just the Luann thing. That was the straw that broke the camel's back," she explained. "Well, because you realize she had been triggered, but you also realize she was feeling a lot of emotions that weren't just about Luann. It came to a head."
