Beyoncé Just Slayed the 2016 VMA Nominations
The singer leads this year's nominees with 11 nods.
The nominations for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Tuesday, and Queen Bey is reigning supreme. Beyoncé leads the pack with 11 nominations, including a nod for the coveted Video of the Year award for "Formation."
Some of the most viral and controversial music videos of the year join "Formation" in the Video of the Year category, including Adele's "Hello," Drake's "Hotline Bling," Justin Bieber's "Sorry," and Kanye West's "Famous." This could, in fact, be one year where Taylor Swift hopes Beyoncé snags the Moonman for Video of the Year.
Beyoncé is also blazing trails by being one of the nominees in the brand-new category of Breakthrough Long Form Video, according to Entertainment Weekly, earning a nod for Lemonade. Her visual album will be going up against Bieber's PURPOSE: The Movement, Chris Brown's Royalty, Florence + The Machine's The Odyssey, and Troye Sivan's Blue Neighborhood Trilogy.
Adele follows Beyoncé with eight nominations for two videos from her long-awaited album 25: the aforementioned "Hello" and "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)."
The 2016 MTV VMAs are set to air on August 28 from New York's Madison Square Garden. You can vote for your favorites now on MTV's website.
