Braunwyn Windham-Burke shared that her son, Jacob, was “giving the world of drag a try” back in January, and it sounds like he has continued to get involved in the drag community ever since. In an interview with The Daily Dish, The Real Housewives of Orange County mom shared an update on Jacob’s new interest.

How to Watch

“Jacob asked for heels for Christmas, and I said, 'OK,’ and that sort of started it,” Brauwnyn explained. “I have found out there’s an entire community of teenagers that are in the drag community that I didn’t know about, and I’ve reached out to a lot of their moms.”

Braunwyn also noted that as long as it doesn’t get canceled due to coronavirus (COVID-19), Jacob is set to attend an event in Denver, which she described as a “pageant for younger drag queens.”

“Jacob will get to meet all these people that he’s been hanging out with online on Instagram, and I’ll get to know their moms, so we’re both very excited,” she said.

In the meantime, Jacob has been watching tutorials online and performing shows for the entire family on the stage they have in their home. “He has all the wigs, and the clothes and makeup, and he’s been doing online tutorials,” Braunwyn mentioned on The Daily Dish podcast

Braunwyn’s daughter Bella’s boyfriend is currently staying with the family in self-quarantine, and has been getting in on the fun, too. “He’ll do it with him for fun. Curren doesn’t want to, but Caden loves it, too.”

Overall, Braunwyn said that drag has been an incredibly positive outlet for Jacob.

“He was kind of in a funk for a while, he was kind of depressed and just sad,” she explained. “This has taken him out of that. He’s just activated and alive.”
