Bravo Breaks Down Kate & Wills' Royal Wedding
LuAnn, Lisa, Tamra and more weigh in on the new Royal Housewife.
If you excavated yourself from bed early enough this morning to watch the regal, royal unification of Kate Middleton and Prince William -- or "the Super Bowl for girls, gays and Brits" as Television Without Pity called it -- you were in good company.
Never ones to miss a decent spectacle, your favorite Bravolebrities were rapt like everyone else when Kate walked the aisle. For The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump, it was a bit of business and pleasure -- she weighed in on the event as a contributor for HLN. "What an honor to narrate for hln... an experience I will remember,an amazing week, overwhelmed this morning...proud to be British.:)" she tweeted.
Fellow Bravo royal experts LuAnn de Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York City and Cat Ommanney of The Real Housewives of D.C. visited Watch What Happens Live last night to breakdown the affair with Andy Cohen on Wedding Eve. The two weighed in on proper royal wedding etiquette, LuAnn drawing from "sixteen years of living the life... Living the life in Europe amongst all of the people that we've been speaking of tonight and that are going to be a part of the Royal Wedding" (as she snapped to Cat when the D.C. 'Wife questioned the Countess' credentials).
But for others, it was purely royal-watching as sport. Tamra Barney sounded like a kid the night before Christmas on her Twitter page, exclaiming "Omg omg omg. Who else is excited about the royal wedding? I want to get all dressed up and sit on my couch and watch with all my friends." Unfortunately it sounds like she showed up stag for the viewing party, as boyfriend Eddie Judge was less than enthusiastic about getting out of bed. "@eddiejudge refuses to wake up at 2am with me to watch the royal wedding," she wrote.
The wedding itself, of course, had significantly less drama than the standard Bravo affair, making our colleagues at Television Without Pity glad to have taken the Tamra-like couch approach as opposed to braving the throngs in the streets of London. "I think I'd be upset if I had camped outside for days and only saw a person in a car speed by," TWOP's Angel Cohn writes. "And even after the ceremony, only a portion of the masses saw the carriage parade, and those horses were moving so it was a bit of a blink-and-you-missed-it kind of moment."
However, there was plenty of love to go 'round, and lots of happiness following the ceremony. "By the time they stepped out on the balcony to greet the public and show their first smooch as man and wife, they were practically beaming. I'm not one for sappy endings, but that was kind of sweet," Angel continues. And there was well-wishing of course. RHONY star Kelly Bensimon agreed, tweeting "I wish the new bride and groom a happy, healthy, and FUN relationship.Congradulations. #royalwedding."
