Captain Lee Rosbach Reflects on Opening Up to the Charter Guests About His Son's Passing

"That was a pretty big leap for me," the Below Deckcaptain shared.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Captain Lee Rosbach shared a connection with the charter guests in the February 1 episode of Below Deck. He opened up to Jackie and David Siegel about losing his son, Joshua, at the age of 42 in 2019 after a battle with addiction, something the primary charter guests had also unfortunately experienced when their daughter, Victoria, passed away at the age of 18 about five years ago.

Captain Lee opened up more about his conversations with the Siegels in the above Below Deck After Show clip shared exclusively with Bravo Insider.

He admitted that he was a little caught off guard when they first started talking about their experiences in the wheelhouse shortly after the charter guests boarded the yacht. "I was really unprepared for that. They caught me by surprise, they truly did, but I don't regret it," Captain Lee said. "I wish I had a little more time to get myself mentally ready for it, because that was a pretty big leap for me."

However, Captain Lee soon realized that he and the Siegels could empathize with one another. "They know what I went through, and they know what I've gone through," he said. "We belong to a club that nobody wants to belong to, and there's absolutely nothing that anybody can do about it."

Captain Lee reflects more on the process of finding healing following his son's passing, including how these moments with the Siegels have helped him on his journey, above.
