Third Stew Kasey Cohen definitely seemed green when she joined Below Deck Mediterranean this season — but Captain Sandy Yawn and the crew didn't know just how green she really was. When Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier discovered that Kasey had stretched the truth just a tad (like putting on her CV that she was highly skilled in barista training and silver service — fine dining of the high seas — when she didn't even know how to make a cup of coffee), she confronted Kasey. Though the two seemed to move past the misstep as the season went on, when Captain Sandy visited The Daily Dish podcast, we had to know what she thought of one of her own fibbing to get a job.

"I did not witness Kasey's lack of motivation in the beginning," said Captain Sandy. "If I would have know that, I would have sat her down. That's when the department head should come to me ... I am approachable; ask me for advice ... I will give you my experience from all the crew I've had over the years and there are some crew I've had to let go but I try not to fire people because they're there because they want to be there."

Captain Sandy says she would have handled the situation differently had she been involved. "I didn't know Casey was — hey listen — obviously, she was a little princess. She couldn't even do her own laundry. I'm sure that doesn't feel good to her ... You know what inspires people? When you get positive accolades. When you say, 'Oh my God, that was a great job.' It's like an animal, when you're training an animal, you give him a cookie when he sits, and he wants to do it again. And it's the same thing with human beings."

However, Captain Sandy admits she had thought about firing the third stew. "Kasey, she was sick and there was a point where I was considering letting her ago," she said, but pointed out Kasey's positive attitude. "This is the opportunity to train someone and change their trajectory and I really would hope Hannah would do that."

There are still plenty more clashes to come this season of Below Deck Med! Make sure to watch every Tuesday at 9/8c and catch a preview of next week's episode, below.
