Caroline Manzo Has a "Different Relationship" with Her Kids This Season of Manzo'd
The #Manzod children are forging their own paths.
Season 3 of Manzo'd with Children premieres on Sunday, September 11, and Caroline Manzo thinks it's time for a name change. "I think it's a lot of milestones this year, a lot of turning points in everybody's lives and a lot of decisions being made and a lot of questions that go unanswered-kind-of-thing about everybody's future. I think it shouldn't be called Manzo'd with Children anymore almost because they haven't been children for years. We all know that. But they all come into their own this year," Caroline told The Daily Dish in August. "I think finally we see — I won't say a divide — but you see them grow as individuals this year while still maintaining the family as a whole."
We already get an idea of that in the supertease for the new season above, which shows Albie Manzo focusing on his fitness, Chris Manzo's career as an author taking flight, and Lauren Manzo Scalia settling into married life with husband Vito Scalia. Although Caroline said the Manzo famiglia will always be a solid unit, we'll start to see the siblings forge their own paths in life this season. "I'm still very, very close with the family. I don't want to say they're independent now because they've been independent, all of them," she said. "I think people are going to start to see them as individuals, rather than the Manzo boys or the Manzo kids. It'll be Albie Manzo, Lauren Manzo, Christopher Manzo, rather than the three Manzo kids."
As the Manzo siblings' adult lives continue to take shape, Caroline has been able to focus on herself and figure out the next chapter of her life. "There's so many things that I want to do," she said. "I'm thinking about maybe taking up pottery, maybe do sewing classes, go to different kinds of cooking schools, I don't know."
Caroline has found a new passion for making soap, which she launched into a company, as the trailer for this season of Manzo'd with Children shows. "I'm having fun with that. I'm not looking to make it into some crazy, oh my God, Caroline's got this great soap company. No, I've got a little, tiny soap thing that I make out of my house," she said. "It's just a hobby that turned into a little business for me that I'm having a blast with. So it's just a way to keep myself busy and be productive, keep my mind young and have a focus everyday. So I don't know. Who the hell knows where I'll wind up?"
Caroline is more than ready to see that the hard work she and her husband Al Manzo have put in to raising their children has paid off. "The misconception is that, 'Oh, Caroline won't let go of her kids.' No, Caroline raised her kids to let go. I will always maintain the relationship I have with my kids; it's just a different relationship now," she explained. "Yeah, I'm thrilled to let them go. I am excited to see the things they're doing now. I look at my husband, and I say we did something right. So it's all these years putting your heart and soul into raising these kids to let them go to finally [say] we did it right, job well done, and that's something I will always be very, quite frankly, arrogant about because we did a hell of a job."
We'll see what else is new with the Manzo crew when Manzo'd with Children returns on Sunday, September 11 at 9/8c. Until then, catch another look at the new season, below.
