Caroline Stanbury Knows You Loved Seeing Her Cry on Ladies of London
"I think they all wanted to break the ice queen," the #LadiesOfLondon mom said.
Something rare and unexpected happened this season of Ladies of London. Self-proclaimed hug hater Caroline Stanbury got emotional among her group of chums when she broke into tears not once but twice.
We first saw Caroline cry after she stormed out of a disastrous and dramatic dinner at Mapperton. Caroline told The Daily Dish that she got so upset because she had reached her breaking point with Sophie Stanbury and Adela King, who she perceived to be taking Julie Montagu's side even though they had been her friend for 20 years. "I just never understood why every single time it was about Julie. They felt sticking up for Julie was the right thing to do over a relationship that they’ve had for years. I’ve introduced them to all these people," Caroline explained. "I think that by the end of it, what you had to see is that there were tons and tons of poking me. I just had enough. I really had enough. I think Adela’s last comment after a long line of them and going on and on about Julie, I was just sick of it."
Caroline said her tearing up in the season finale of Ladies of London was the result of a one-two punch, with Sophie revealing she and her ex-husband (Caroline's brother Alex Stanbury) had told their sons about their divorce and then Caroline talking about her departure to Dubai with makeup artist/bestie Luke Henderson. "I always get upset when I see Luke upset," Caroline said. "This is not like him being in New York and me being in London. It feels very, very far away and very foreign. He’s used to having me around, and you don’t know whether someone’s going to stay in touch all the time. Or if he always has to work, he might find a new me. There was so much emotion of us always being around each other all the time and having each other that not being there was difficult. I hate seeing him upset. Not that it’s that rare. He’s a complete crybaby."
Caroline said that she thinks Ladies of London fans were surprised but also "a little bit" happy to see her finally shed some tears this season. "I think they were all waiting for it, too," she said. "I think they all wanted to break the ice queen."
