Cary and Mark Deuber Reveal What Their Kids Think of The Real Housewives of Dallas
The RHOD couple opens up about parenting on the show.
Cary and Mark Deuber's relationship has inspired a lot of chatter on The Real Housewives of Dallas this season. But one moment in particular had fans talking, too.
Cary and Mark told The Daily Dish earlier this season that the fan feedback wasn't the best after that uncomfortable dinner party with their daughter Zuri, Kameron Westcott, and her husband Court Westcott (clip below). "We got some really bad comments about the dinner with Kam and Court," Cary said. "I mean, emails, like everybody telling us that he's a horrible father."
The RHOD nurse explained why things were so tense with Mark during the dinner. "I think that, you know, he's a great father. It was my lack of follow-through of not getting a babysitter. And he was frustrated with me," she said. "And I think the way that it appeared, that he was frustrated with his child, but actually his frustration was with me."
Cary also shared that the reason Zuri wouldn't eat the lobster dish Mark prepared is because she was scared after she saw her dad put the fresh lobsters into a pot to cook them earlier in the day, sharp claws and all. But the Deuber family gathers for fun family dinners six nights a week, Mark said. "And the whole family has to be there. And so, we have way more family dinner time together. And we cook food that everybody eats and everybody has a good time," he told The Daily Dish. "But that was a special night where we were having adult-only dinner."
In addition to family dinners, the RHOD couple also loves to travel as a terrific trio. They had brought Zuri to explore the Big Apple with them when The Daily Dish caught up with them in New York City in October. They've also traveled to the likes of Switzerland, Turks and Caicos, and Montana as a family.
Cary is also stepmother to Mark's two children from a previous relationship, who are young adults. The couple revealed whether or not any of their three kids watch RHOD in the clip at the top of this post.
Of course, we only get a glimpse of Cary and Mark's relationship in each episode of RHOD, which means that, yes, there are some things that they wish fans had a greater understanding about. "I mean, I swear he's my best friend. We love our kids. We have an amazing life together," Cary gushed to The Daily Dish. "And I couldn't live without him. And we couldn't live without our kids."
As far as the tension we've seen between Cary and Mark at home and also at work at the RHOD husband's plastic surgery practice, Mark said that spending so much time together for so long and then slowly having more time apart was a major contributing factor to their conflict. "But that's not a bad thing," Mark said. "Conflict is actually a healthy part of a relationship, too."
Cary agreed. "It's because we're passionate about each other. We have passion, which is a good thing," she said. "And I think that we're just really best friends, and I think that we really do enjoy working together and building our practice and raising our kids and doing all those fun things."
