Cecil the Lion's Death Ignites Social Media
Bravolebs respond to the news that an American dentist killed Zimbabwe's well-known animal.
When news broke that American dentist Walter J. Palmer had reportedly hunted and killed one of Zimbabwe's most famous lions, the reaction was incredibly emotional. Cecil the Lion gained fame following his work in a research project started by Oxford University in 1999, and has been a celebrity in the country and around the world ever since. Animal lovers quickly headed to social media to express their anger over the Cecil's passing, including Bravolebrities Lisa Vanderpump, Andy Cohen, and Lizzie Rovsek.
The news also spurred a teary speech from Jimmy Kimmel, who addressed Cecil on his late-night talk show on Tuesday (July 28). "I mean, I'm honestly curious to know why a human being would feel compelled to do that. How is that fun?" he said. "Is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you need to kill things that are stronger than you?"
