The Below Deck Med Crew Share Their Reactions to Chef Mat's Galley Fire Injury
"Everyone was grossed out by it," Chef Mathew Shea shared about his hand injury.
After ups and downs for Chef Mathew Shea at the start of the charter season on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6, during the August 30 episode, he faced yet another challenge when he burned himself while cooking a meal.
Chef Mat explained how and why the incident took place in the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 After Show, shared exclusively with Bravo Insider members, further noting that the things that happened along the way led to him "grab[bing] fire with my hands, so it wasn't the smartest move."
Chef Mat ended up burning his left hand, specifically his fingers, and needed medical assistance. "It hurt. It hurt. I never had such a bad burn in my whole cooking career," he said. "Everyone was grossed out by it."
While he was "freaking out" about the injury after a medical professional tended to it, he ended going back to work and cooking up a delicious meal for the guests that even left one proclaiming "I'm going to marry the chef."
