Chef Roble Cooks for Obama -- and Shares the Recipe With You
Chef Roblé Ali tells you how to make a salad worthy of the POTUS.
Chef Roblé Ali has catered some major events over the course of the first season of Chef Roblé and Co., feeding everyone from Dina Lohan to Johnny Weir to Matisyahu and Kandi Burruss.
But pretty much all of those people pale in comparison to one: the President of the United States of America (sorry!).
Last night, Bleezy made food for Barack, catering a a $38,000 a plate dinner for the POTUS himself at an event hosted by Spike Lee. Also in attendance -- Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon (glad to see he's feeling better!). Not the worst catering gig he'll ever have.
If you don't happen to have $40K and invite from an Oscar-nominated director, you can still eat like the leader of the free world. Roblé shared the recipe for his Winter Fennel and Citrus Salad with us.
Ingredients:
1 handful baby mixed greens
4 half moon slices of green apple
4 orange segments
4 pink grapefruit segments
1 Tbsp juice of the orange
1 Tbsp juice of the pink grapefruit
1 quarter of a bulb thin sliced fennel
4 flat leaf parsley leaves
sprinkling of fennel fronds
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
salt to taste
Once you've got your ingredients Roblé instructs you to place the mixed greens, fennel, and apple slices in a small mixing bowl. Add citrus juice, olive oil and a sprinkling of salt to the salad and mix to dress. Once your salad is dressed, place it on a plate (with or without the presidential seal) and finish with citrus segments, parsley leaves, and fennel fronds.
Then sit down and enjoy. Maybe even whip one up to eat while you watch the season finale this Sunday at 10/9 C. It's your democratic duty to tune in.
