Christian Bale Discovered a Sweet Way to Transform His Body for His Latest Role

If this is what method acting is all about, we're on board.

By Tamara Palmer

Christian Bale is experienced in gaining and losing weight in order to play different movie roles, and it doesn't usually sound like fun, like when he reportedly ate just one can of tuna and one apple per day in order to lose 63 pounds in four months for 2014's The Machinist. But his latest diet is pretty enticing.

He needed to gain weight in order to play Dick Cheney in a forthcoming biopic about the former Vice President, and he turned to a delicious solution to pack on some quick pounds.

“I’ve just been eating a lot of pies,” he told Variety at the Toronto Independent Film Festival.

Vanity Fair noted Bale's transformation in progress and reported that his co-stars in the biopic, Amy Adams (who will play Cheney's wife Lynne) and Steve Carell (as former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld), have not gone through any obvious physical transformations for their roles.

Would you recognize him if you bumped into him on the street now?
