Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas Are Officially Divorced
"A lot of amazing things came out of our marriage, and that's what I choose to focus on," the #RHOA mom said.
Cynthia Bailey has finalized her divorce from Peter Thomas, The Daily Dish can confirm. "Yes, I am officially divorced, and I have officially started dating," Cynthia said during an interview with The Daily Dish.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta fashionista expressed relief over her her divorce being finalized. "It feels like it's finally official," she said. "I feel like I've been talking about my divorce for a very long time. You know, we've been separated for over a year, and just this whole process has been a lot, just mentally and emotionally, and I'm not saying, 'Yay, I'm so happy to be divorced, but I'm kind of saying, 'Yay, I'm so happy that it's finally over.'"
Cynthia and Peter wed in 2010, and fans witnessed their road to the altar in Season 3 of RHOA. The couple announced their decision to separate in 2016, and viewers have watched Cynthia go through the process of divorce this season of RHOA. "I feel good about it. I felt like Peter and I did this with a lot of respect and integrity and class. And that's what I wanted. I love Peter. I'm always gonna love him. I'm always gonna support him. A lot of amazing things came out of our marriage, and that's what I choose to focus on and to remember," Cynthia explained. "So when I look back, I feel like this is one of the things that I'm probably most proud of, having the most peaceful reality TV divorce ever, probably."
However, Cynthia admitted that Peter probably could have handled the divorce better at times. "I think I probably handled it better than he did. He did try a couple times, but he brought it back in. Yeah, I think I'm the real MVP in this whole divorce thing more than him," she said. "But he was good. He reciprocated my energy, and he responded to the light and love that I was giving him."
Overall, Cynthia said that she is happy with how the divorce process went and is optimistic about their future friendship. "We're cool. We're not on the phone every day talking, but I think that we're friends, but we're good," Cynthia shared. "I wish him well, I wish him love again, and I hope that he wishes me well."
