Cynthia Nixon is Already a Fan of Sarah Jessica Parker's New Show
The #SATC alum opens up about her former costar's new series on #WWHL.
It's been 12 years since we said goodbye to Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda on the small screen, but this month, Sarah Jessica Parker marks her return to TV. The actress will star in HBO's Divorce. And this time, instead of looking for love in the Big Apple, she's headed out to the suburbs to navigate the murky territory of marriage. While we bet some Sex and the City fans will tune into the darker series, some might be wondering if any of her former co-stars will watch. You can bet there's one former TV pal who has already seen it — and she loved every minute of it.
Cynthia Nixon appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday, shortly after attending an event where the show was screened. Her take on it? She gave it a six-thumbs-up review.
"I've known her since we were like 12 and 13. So a long time," Cynthia said. "It just was an exciting evening for her, an exciting project for her. And I think that the guy from HBO who introduced it [at the event] said it just right, she took her time and found exactly the vehicle to come back."
But SATC fans take note: Sarah Jessica recently appeared on Good Morning America to clarify something pretty major about the series. "I think it's important that she not be Carrie Bradshaw," she explained. "I got to play that character for 12 sublime years written by extraordinary writers and telling a very specific story and so...I did find another woman who is equally as compelling, extremely different, complicated. Her life choices have been radically different than Carrie's and I think it's a story no less appealing though it's very different."
