D’Andra Simmons is mourning the loss of her beloved dog, Dixie. The Real Housewives of Dallas cast member took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to her late pet.

How to Watch

Catch up on The Real Housewives of Dallas on Peacock or the Bravo App.

Dixie was 14 years old when she passed. I adopted her and her sister, Gypsy in 2008. They were Brussels Griffon littermates. Gypsy passed away on February 25, 2020, and Dixie passed away October 8, 2020,” D’Andra wrote alongside a photo slideshow posted on October 15.

As D’Andra went on to explain, she was out of town and unable to return in time, due to a delayed flight. “This broke my heart as Dixie was my loyal companion and truly Mommy’s little dog. She loved me and she was constantly by my side,” she wrote. “Dixie was always at the back door to greet me when I came home from work with her tail wagging and at the front door if we went out to dinner.

D’Andra also shared a little of her long history with Dixie, explaining, “She comforted me through tragedies and triumphs. She cried with me when my father, Glenn Simmons, passed, and was excited to meet the new ‘man in my life; Jeremy Lock, when I first introduced him to the ‘girls’ as I called her and her sister, Gypsy. She was excited when Jeremy came to live with us permanently and she had a Daddy. She loved her ‘Mimi’ Momma Dee Simmons and always greeted her with great enthusiasm.”

Dixie was 14 years old when she passed. I adopted her and her sister, Gypsy in 2008. They were Brussels Griffon littermates. Gypsy passed away on February 25, 2020, and Dixie passed away October 8, 2020. Unfortunately, we were unable to be here when she passed, due to being stuck in the hurricane in Mexico. We could not get a plane back early, and we arrived home just a few hours after she passed on the same day. This broke my heart as Dixie was my loyal companion and truly Mommy’s little dog. She loved me and she was constantly by my side. Dixie was always at the back door to greet me when I came home from work with her tail wagging and at the front door if we went out to dinner. She slept next to me for almost 13 years right next to my ribs, and she was always in the chair with me in my home salon when I was getting my hair and makeup done by @reymedrano and @maneatelier. She was adorable and loved on RHOD. She was spoiled. She loved to eat like her Mommy and I made her gourmet meals of salmon and steak with veggies. There wasn’t a food she didn’t like…we had that in common! She comforted me through tragedies and triumphs. She cried with me when my father, Glenn Simmons, passed, and was excited to meet the new “man in my life” @jeremytlock, when I first introduced him to the “girls” as I called Dixie and her sister, Gypsy. She was excited when Jeremy came to live with us permanently and she had a Daddy. She loved her ‘Mimi” @mommadeesimmons and always greeted her with great enthusiasm. Dixie hated when we traveled, and she would always sit right on top of my clothes in my suitcase if she knew we were leaving town, just as she did the last time I saw her when we left for Mexico on October 1, 2020. I will cherish the memories I have with Dixie and I will always love her unconditionally as she loved me. The memories of her special grunting noises, her incessant barking from the front window and her excitement when it came to spending time with me, and helping me taste the delicious recipes I made in the kitchen, will always stir my heart and my tears. I miss her terribly and I will for the rest of my life. Rest In Peace little Dixie, I love you! ❤️❤️🙏🙏
