D’Andra Simmons Says “It Isn’t Easy” Talking About Her Past Struggles with Her Family
The RHOD cast member is sharing her "spiritual journey" as she tries to reckon with her past.
D’Andra Simmons is getting real about the struggles she has gone through with her family. On the January 12 episode of The Real Housewives of Dallas, she shared her experience working with a shaman as she embarks on a new “spiritual journey.”
In an interview during the episode, D’Andra noted that, although her relationship with her mother has greatly improved since they stopped working together, she’s still working through the emotions tied to her extended family. The RHOD cast member opened up about the strained relationship she shares with her stepmother and stepbrother and the legal battle they had following her father’s death.
While speaking with the shaman, D’Andra also shared some of her goals for the future.
“I want to be softer, I want to maybe have a better relationship with not only my husband and my mother but my friends, and I want other people to have a different perception of me,” she said. “I don’t want them to think that I’m angry and I’m wound up all the time.”
D’Andra also opened up about her journey on Twitter during the episode, writing, “It isn’t easy speaking up about my past and the struggles I’ve faced with my family.”
She also shared her excitement for her new journey, adding “Also…I’m so excited to finally introduce you to my shaman @DarrinDavisD!”
“I’m so thankful to be on this spiritual journey with my Shaman @DarrinDavisD. Good vibes only!” D’Andra continued. “My biggest takeaway from life is that you should never have any regrets and always follow your heart!”
In an Instagram Story, D’Andra answered some of the questions her followers had been asking, writing, “I’ve been getting so many questions about this scene! I was doing Rapaé. Which is a sacred medicine that contains tobacco from the Amazonia! It’s used to clear the body, quiet the mind, and balance energies!”
