Dina Manzo: Real Housewife of Chicago?
Not quite, but the Jersey girl is bringing her Project Ladybug to the windy city.
Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Manzo is taking Project Ladybug on the road. Dina turned up in Chicago recently to mark the opening of a new chapter of her charity, which benefits kids and families affected by pediatric cancer, a cause near and dear to Dina's heart.
"Thank God I haven't personally been affected in my own family, but my dad was always a huge supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital when I was a kid," Dina told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Dina was in town to promote an April 7 fundraiser for Atia's Project Ladybug Fund in honor of the 3-year-old leukemia patient who inspired the Chicago chapter. "Atia literally stole my heart. Each new chapter is named after a child that personally touches me," Manzo told the newspaper. Atia Lutarewych was diagnosed at just 17 months, and is receiving care at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital.
"There are a lot of wonderful charities you can help, but these children don't make this choice. They should be running, jumping and playing. Instead, their lives are hospitals and treatments," Dina said.
