Does Meghan Markle Have a British Accent Now?

The new Duchess is suddenly speaking a little bit differently, according to a recent video.

By Tamara Palmer

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (formerly Meghan Markle) was born in Los Angeles, California and had a quintessential West Coast accent — up until recently. Now, it sounds like she's starting to speak her words with a bit of a British accent.

E! posted a fan's tweet with a video of meeting Meghan, and if you listen, you can hear the beginnings of a different way of speaking. Gone are the languid syllables of a Californian and in their place are shorter sounds. While living in a different country can quickly alter one's accent, there is speculation that she is being coached into a new form of public speech.

What do you think? Listen for yourself here.

If she is altering the way she talks, it would just be another protocol, like giving up garlic, that she's following now that she's in the royal family. Check out more royal rules in the video above.
