As Eboni K. Williams holds important discussions about race this season of The Real Housewives of New York City, some of the ladies have said that they have found her approach to be "too preachy."

Eboni responded to that criticism during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on July 13. "My answer is simply this: I'm a little bit of a preacher, and I wear that as a badge of honor, and I'm a little bit of a teacher, too," she explained in the above clip. "The other thing is I really just wanted to go into this thing, Andy [Cohen], making the most authentic connections with the women and just being truthful and honest about where I am and what I'm about. And if there's an outstanding question about values alignment, I've got to get to the bottom of it. That's all."

She previously spoke about the importance of talking about race this season of RHONY during an Amplify Our Voices conversation with E!'s Nina Parker in June. "Everything I do is unapologetically for the liberation of my people and the liberation of marginalized groups across this country," Eboni said. "That is who I am, and I will not be shamed around it, I will not apologize for it, and I will not be put on a back shelf for the sake of RHONY."

Eboni also said that the kind of discussions that she's having with her fellow New York Housewives this season is a reflection of the larger conversations happening in the country right now. "We're in the heavy s--t, and you cannot put the toothpaste back into the tube, baby," she said. "So now we have to continue to read the page and turn the page if we are to ever be in a place of national unity and healing and reconciliation." 

During Tuesday night's WWHL After Show, Eboni, who is the first Black Housewife on RHONY, showed her appreciation for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Garcelle Beauvais, who blazed the trail for her as the first Black Housewife of that franchise. "She laid the groundwork for what it's like being a woman of color integrating an all-white cast," Eboni said of Garcelle.

Eboni added that she admires Garcelle on a personal level as a friend, as well as all of her professional achievements in Hollywood. "Garcelle is in my text message thread right now. She's a queen," Eboni said. "And she's Fancy, honey, from The Jamie Foxx Show. She's a queen!"
