Emerson Collins Is Taking to the Stage with Some Help from Barbra Streisand
#ThePeoplesCouch commentator's performance in the play Buyer & Cellar is like buttah.
Emerson Collins' commentary on The People's Couch is as entertaining as the TV shows that he and pals Blake McIver Ewing and Scott Nevins watch in each episode. But does Emerson have what it takes to go tow-to-tow with the one and only Barbra Streisand?
Well, that's a scenario we can at least imagine as Emerson takes on the role of Alex More in Laguna Playhouse's production of Buyer & Cellar, running now through June 26. The one-man comedy chronicles Alex's adventures as the "curator" of of a mini-mall in the basement of Babs' Malibu estate. Emerson even impersonates the legend herself, as well as her husband James Brolin, in the play.
And Emerson is wowing critics with his performance. "He possesses an unquenchable supply of energy, both physical and intellectual, as he spins this fantastic tale of a young gay man on the fringe of heaven," the Los Angeles Times lauded Emerson's turn in a recent review.
We can only hope that Barbra would be just as verklempt over Emerson's performance as the Couchers did during Beyoncé's surprise Lip Sync Battle appearance.
