New Mom Emilia Bechrakis Has Written a Book About Fertility Struggles
The MDLNY mom will share her and husband Ryan Serhant's journey to becoming parents.
Emilia Bechrakis and Ryan Serhant have been open about their difficult road to parenthood. It took them three years to conceive daughter Zena via IVF, who was born on February 26. And now that the Million Dollar Listing New York couple are finally parents, they want to share their journey to getting there. Emilia just announced that she has penned a book, To the Moon and Back for You, which details her fertility struggles and IVF experience.
“Although everyone’s journey to motherhood is different, we all share the same yearning, the same hope and the same pleading prayer that, in the end, we will meet our healthy baby,” Emilia told PEOPLE. “This book is for families in the IVF community and any woman who feels like a mother even before holding her child for the first time,” she continued. “It’s for the mothers who have longed for a baby, who have suffered loss or who have struggled in one way or another to have a child of their own. I want families to enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it and to never feel alone in telling their unique story.”
The book, which will be released in March 2020, features families of all backgrounds who “traverse abstract landscapes to find their miracle baby,” according to the press release.
Ryan hyped up his wife's book in an Instagram post. "Today is a HUGE HUGE HUGE day for my beautiful amazing Her first children’s book, To the Moon and Back for You, comes out in March! It’s for all the parents out there struggling with infertility. It’s a gorgeous book that really shows, in a fun cute way for babies, what parents have to go through with all the needles and the tears and the years of trying to get their little miracle baby."
And Emilia described the book as a story "for any parent who has struggled on their journey to have a baby."
The couple has previously detailed their journey to parenthood. In a note to Zena, Ryan wrote, "To my daughter, Your momma and I have waited almost 3 years to meet you. We had no idea how difficult getting pregnant with you was going to be. We tried everything. We were so nervous you might never come. When we finally decided to try IVF, we were so scared it wouldn’t work. And then you stuck. And then we heard your little heartbeat for the first time. Your mom and I were so excited every time we would go to the hospital to see you, but even more terrified we would lose you. Because the fact that we were pregnant - as beautiful as it was - was almost too good to be true. And because of that fear, we loved you as hard as we could from the moment we knew you existed. We thought if we put that love for you out there, you would hear it, and you would make it I watched you grow slowly with your momma every day, waiting for the moment I would finally meet you. I feel like I’ve spent my whole life working towards this moment, when everything would make sense. One day when you read this, I hope you can look back and be proud."
